What are lamb chops

Lamb chops is one of the most expensive parts of lamb. The lamb chop, also known as lamb cutlets, has a lot of flavour and are very tender. Lamb chops taste amazing when cooked in the Air Fryer, grilled or pan fried. Lamb chops are individual cuts of meat with the bone in, however they derive from a rack of lamb which is cut into smaller pieces. Rack of lamb can typically be cooked as a whole joint of meat. Popular recipes for rack of lamb include herb crusted / crumbed rack of lamb or brushed with Dijon mustard and roasted in an oven.

What part of the lamb is the lamb chop

A lamb chop comes from the rib of the lamb, the rack is then cut into smaller chops / cutlets / lollipops.

What’s the difference between lamb chops and lamb loin chops?

A loin of lamb is taken from the mid-section of the waist between the rib and sirloin. Loin chops have a t bone in the middle and a different more rounder shape compared to Lamb chops.

What does frenched lamb chops mean

French trimmed lamb chops is the process of cleaning the lamb chop bone to remove the excess sinew and membrane, by using a sharp knife to scrape off the excess meat/membrane. The bone should appear clean and almost off white. It remains like this throughout grilling or cooking in the air fryer.

Lamb chops work incredibly well with a Greek style marinade! The combination of seasonings, fresh herbs, lemon juice and garlic taste amazing! Here are some other amazing ways to season and marinate lamb chops.

How to marinate lamb chops

The best way to marinate lamb chops to maximise their flavour before air frying is to add the lamb chops into a large bowl, add seasonings, cover and refrigerate overnight. The longer the lamb chops sit in the marinade the more delicious and tastier the lamb will be once cooked.

How to cook lamb chops in an air fryer

Cooking lamb chops in an air fryer is super easy and fuss free. All you need to do is add the marinated lamb chops into the basket, then air fry and ensure you flip the lamb chops over on the other side halfway through cooking.

How long do you cook lamb chops in air fryer?

Lamb chops take 8 minutes minimum to cook in the air fryer for medium results. You can cook for a further 2 + minutes for a more well-done lamb chops. The thickness of the lamb chops will affect the cooking time, thinner cut lamb chops will cook a lot quicker than thicker cut lamb chops. Adjust the cook times accordingly.

What temperature to cook lamb chops

Lamb chops should be cooked in the air fryer at 190°C / 375°F for 8 – 10 minutes.

Why are my lamb chops tough

Lamb chops when overcooked are very tough which is not great. To prevent this follow the cook times and also remove the chops from the air fryer as soon as they are cooked. If you keep the lamb chops inside the air fryer, they will continue cooking.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF AN AIR FRYER

Air frying is such a great way of cooking food! The popular small counter top electric air fryer convection oven, mimics the process of “frying food” without having to deep fry in oil! Here are some of the top benefits of cooking with an air fryer;

  • Healthier – Air frying is a much healthier alternative to deep or shallow frying food. Up to 80% less fat can be achieved in certain air fried meals by using this cooking method rather than frying conventionally in oil.
  • Even cooking – Because the fan in an air fryer circulates at a high speed within a small space, food tends to crisp up quicker and cook evenly throughout. 
  • Time efficient –  Although some air fryers have a pre heat setting, air fryers generally heat up very quickly. Due to their size, cook times are substantially lower compared to an oven, which can take up to 15 minutes to pre heat fully and come up to temperature.
  • Easy to use – Air fryers are very easy to use and are a great kitchen tool for cooks that might not be as confident in the kitchen.
  • Saves space – As air fryers are small and portable, they are great for people who may not have access to a fully functioning kitchen. For example a college student or someone who lives in a studio apartment where you may not have access to a full size oven. 
  • Versatility – Air fryers are probably the most versatile kitchen gadgets available. Not only can you air fry food, you can also bake, grill, toast, steam and roast ingredients in the air fryer.

How many calories in a lamb chop

There are 131 calories in one lamb chop. The calories in a chop will mainly vary vastly depending on whether the excess fat has been trimmed down. I like to keep this on as it has a lot of flavour and most of the fat renders down whilst cooking in the air fryer.

Are lamb chops healthy

Lamb chops are a great source of protein within a balance diet. There are 16.5g of protein per lamb chop in this recipe.

Description

Tender, Sizzling AIR FRYER Lamb Chops infused with a Greek style marinade with lemon juice, aromatic herbs and garlic and olive oil. This easy to make recipe is a must try dish!  


Ingredients

  • Lamb chops/Lamb cutlets – 9 x chops (approximately 720g / 1.5 pounds)
  • Fresh lemon juice – Juice from 1 x lemon 
  • Olive oil – 2 x tablespoons 
  • Ground black pepper – 1 x teaspoon 
  • Dried Thyme – 1 x teaspoon
  • Dried Oregano – 1 x teaspoon 
  • Fresh garlic – 4 x cloves (finely chopped or minced)
  • Salt – 1 x teaspoons 


Instructions

  1. Air fryer prep: Preheat the air fryer
  2. Marinating the lamb chops: Add all the ingredients to a large bowl (excluding the fresh thyme) and mix until the Lamb chops are fully marinated.

  3. Air frying lamb chops: Place the lamb chops into the air fryer, you may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your model. Air fry for 8 minutes at 190°C / 375°F, flip halfway through cooking. If you would like the lamb chops to be well done cook for a further 2+ minutes.

  4. Plating: Serve with lemon wedges and top the cooked lamb chops with freshly chopped thyme or any other green herbs.

Notes

Do not overlap the lamb chops whilst air frying as this will prevent them from getting crispy and cooking properly.

The thickness of the lamb chops will affect the cooking time, thinner cut lamb chops will cook a lot quicker than thicker cut lamb chops. Adjust the cook times accordingly.

For reference my starter is 100% rye flour, less than a month old & stored in the fridge. This loaf was baked with both rye and @allinsonsflour @allinsonsbread  strong white bread flour.

Ingredients ➡️ Roast Tomato Soup 🥫🥣 This Ingredients ➡️ Roast Tomato Soup 🥫🥣 This recipe is full of flavour! 🍅🔥 Pair with a grilled cheese toastie for the ultimate comfort food combination! 

Recipe⬇️

⏺️ Roast vegetables ingredients 
Tomatoes - x 11 (1.3kg)
Roasted peppers - 3 
Shallots - 2 
Fresh Thyme - 8 sprigs 
Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon 
Garlic - 2 x bulbs cut in half 
Smoked paprika - 2 teaspoons
Worcestershire  sauce - 1 teaspoon
White Onions - 2 
Shallots - 2
@schwartz.uk Italian seasoning - 2 tablespoons 
Tomato purée - 1 teaspoon 
 @filippoberio_uk Olive oil - 3-4 tablespoons 

⏺️ Other ingredients 
Single cream - 190ml
Chicken stock or vegetable stock- 400ml
Fresh basil - 1 large handful 
Salt - 1/2 teaspoon or more to taste
Olive oil

1. Place all the roasts vegetable ingredients onto an oven tray. Bake for 35 minutes at 180c. Turn the vegetables halfway through cooking.

2. Once cooked remove the garlic bulbs and squeeze out the individual cloves of garlic. Then place the all the roast vegetables, tray juices and double cream into a blender. Blitz till smooth, add the basil and blend again.

3. In batches then mix in the chicken stock into the blender. One combined pass through a sieve and pour into a pot. Bring the soup up to a general simmer, taste, then season with salt and the Worcestershire sauce.

4. Plate up the soup and garnish with the cream, olive oil, fresh basil and chilli flakes

For the lasagna base:
15 ml olive oil
400g beef mince 
150ml double cream
200 Italian pork sausage/ plain sausage (pork or turkey)
1 small onion
1 small carrot
1 stalks of celery 
4 cloves garlic
800g tomato pasta sauce @muttipomodorouk 
1 tablespoon red pesto 
400ml beef stock 
7 dried lasagna sheets, broken into pieces
Dried oregano - 1 tablespoon 
Dried basil - 1 tablespoon 
Dried Thyme - 1 tablespoon 
Dried sage - 1 teaspoon 
Salt & black pepper, to taste
20g parmesan 
Salt ½ teaspoon (add more if needed)
Pepper ½ teaspoon 
Fresh Mozzarella ball - x 1 sliced 

“White Sauce Cream”
250 g mascarpone cheese
50 g parmesan cheese, grated
1 minced garlic
Handful fresh bail
Black pepper
60 g sharp cheddar cheese, grated
¼ tsp garlic powder
Pinch of salt & black pepper

Garnish
Fresh basil & garlic bread

This dish is all about slow, soulful cooking. The stew simmers for hours until the roasted tomatoes and red peppers turn beautifully sweet and rich, perfectly balanced by the heat of scotch bonnet peppers 🌶️. Each bite is bold, comforting, and packed with layers of flavour that only time and patience can create.
I served it the traditional way — with freshly boiled rice that soaks up all that delicious stew, and golden fried plantain on the side for the perfect sweet-and-savory combo.

Base ingredients (5 -6 servings)

🔹Chicken stew 
Sweet bell peppers - 4 (remove seeds)
Tomatoes - 4
Red onion - 2
Garlic cloves - 3 
Scotch bonnet - adjust to spice level 1+
(Remove seed for less spice)
Curry powder - 1 tablespoon 
Dried thyme - 1 tablespoon 
Bay leaf - 1
Tomato puree - 70g
Vegetable oil 
Salt add to taste

🔹Chicken & stock
Chicken drumsticks & or thighs - 1kg 
White onion - 1
Spring onions - 2
Fresh thyme - small handful
Fresh Rosemary - small handfull
Bay leaf - 2
Garlic cloves - 4
Curry powder - 1 tablespoon

Batch-prep the salmon fillets &seasoned fish batte Batch-prep the salmon fillets &seasoned fish batter so you can enjoy fresh crispy tacos anytime 🌮

🔹Wet Batter
300 ml tonic or sparkling water
120 g self-raising flour
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp salt

🔹Seasoned Flour
120 g self-raising flour
1 tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika

🔹Fish
500 g salmon, sliced into thin fillets
Oil for frying

⬇️Method

1) In a large bowl, whisk together the dry wet-batter ingredients, then slowly add the tonic/sparkling water. Transfer to a container.

2) Mix the seasoned flour ingredients in another container. You should now have one wet batter and one seasoned flour. (Keep both refrigerated and use within 3 days)

3) Preheat oil to 165°C. The oil should be hot enough to fry but not so hot that the batter cooks before the fish.

4) Place salmon fillets into the seasoned flour, close the lid, and shake the containers. Shake off excess flour.

5) Dip floured salmon into the wet batter, let excess drip off, then carefully place in the hot oil.

6) Fry 4–5 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and crisp. Internal temperature should reach 63°C (145°F).

7) Place on a rack, sprinkle with flaky salt, and serve in warm tortillas with slaw, salad, and chipotle ranch.

🥒 Easy Salad
1 cucumber (deseeded)
6 tomatoes (deseeded)
Large handful fresh parsley, chopped

🍋 Everything Dressing
Juice of 5 lemons
3 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp agave or honey

💡 Hack: 

Keep salad + dressing separate → lasts 4–5 days in the fridge! Season salad just before dressing so you can customise every time.

Fresh, zesty, & perfect with taco bowls, wraps, proteins or just on the side.

RECIPE ⬇️ The EASIEST chipotle meal prep slaw RECIPE ⬇️ The EASIEST chipotle meal prep slaw you’ll ever make 🥕🔥Crunchy, creamy + smoky — mix once, eat all week! 

🔹Ingredients 
4 carrots, grated
1 small white cabbage, thinly sliced
4 spring onions, sliced vertically into thin strips
4–5 tbsp mayonnaise (add more if you prefer extra creamy) @hellmannsmayonnaise 
2 - 3 tsp chipotle paste @marksandspencerfood 
Parsley- large handful, chopped
¼ tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder

Method

🔹Prep the spring onions: 
- Slice the spring onions vertically into very thin strips.
- Place them in a bowl of ice-cold water, this helps them crisp up and curl.
- Drain well before adding to the coleslaw base.

🔹 Make the dry coleslaw mix
- In a large bowl, combine the grated carrots, sliced cabbage, parsley and drained spring onions.
- Toss to mix evenly.

🔹 Split the mix:
- Divide the dry coleslaw base into two containers:
• Container 1: Store as a dry mix in the fridge to use later in the week (great for salads, wraps, or bowls).
• Container 2: This will be turned into your chipotle coleslaw today.
- Mix the dressing straight into the coleslaw in Container 2, add the mayonnaise, chipotle paste, black pepper, and garlic powder.
- Mix thoroughly until everything is evenly coated.

🔹Serve
- Enjoy immediately with tacos, grilled meats, or as a BBQ side.
